Urgent Prescription Policy

We experience a large volume of repeat prescription requests every day. All patients are responsible for their own medication and are expected to order repeat medication 7 days in advance, we understand that occasionally patients may require a prescription urgently and for this reason our GP’s have created an ‘urgent drug list’ and only medications on this list will be issued urgently. Any requests that we receive on an urgent basis will be checked against this list and if appropriate will be issued for collection after 6pm on the same day. If the medication is not on the urgent drug list it will be processed within our usual 48 hour time frame unless the practice is at fault for you not receiving a prescription. If an urgent prescription is requested we require a reason as to why this has been requested.

Patients will be reminded of our urgent prescription policy in the first instance and subsequent requests will result in a warning from the practice and the consequences of ignoring the policy. Patients may face removal from the practice if they continue to ignore the practice policy.
