Practice Nurse Appointments
We have 3 Practice Nurse’s who work at the Surgery – Andrea, Shireen & Rosie
Our Practice Nurses hold chronic disease clinics (e.g. asthma reviews, diabetic reviews, COPD reviews). They also do contraceptive reviews, vaccination & immunisation clinics, smear tests & swabs. Their appointments can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance.
Andrea & Shireen are prescribing Nurse’s and are able to also hold minor ailment clinics that can treat patients who present with sore throats, coughs, ear ache etc.
Examples of the clinics we offer are:
| Family Planning | E.g. Pill Checks, Depo Contraception Injections |
| Diabetic Reviews | Diabetic patients are called for a review yearly and will be invited by letter with a request to have a blood test prior to your review.
Diabetic review appointments are available for minor diabetic problems that are not part of an annual review. |
| Respiratory appointments | The Practice Nurse aims to educate patients with Asthma or COPD about their condition. She will teach them how to use their inhaler correctly and encourage them to live a normal healthy lifestyle. |
| Immunisation Clinics | For children’s immunisations, held on alternate Wednesdays at each Surgery
The Child Health Department at Garven Place Clinic sends out appointments. If you miss your appointment, they will automatically send for your child again. | Pre-school Booster Clinics | For children’s pre-school booster immunisations. Held on alternate Thursday’s at each Surgery. |
| Well Woman Check | All women aged 25-64 are offered a well woman check every 3 years. This will involve a smear test and an explanation of how to carry out a regular self-breast examination. Please bring a sample of urine with you to this clinic. |
| Well Person Check | A free MOT check is available for all patients. You do not need to see a Doctor first. |
