Travel Vaccinations

Our team of Practice Nurses can offer travel advice and vaccinations for holiday and business travellers. They can advise on which vaccinations are required for your destination, along with routine travel advice on how to avoid becoming ill whilst abroad and any local risks.

It is important to note that not all of the vaccinations that you may require can be given at the practice and are not all free on the NHS.

Vaccinations for the following conditions are usually available for free on the NHS and can be accessed at this practice:

  • Diphtheria, polio and tetanus
  • Hepatitis A
  • Meningitis C
  • Typhoid
  • Cholera

Vaccinations that are not given at the practice are:

  • Hepatits B
  • Japanese encephalitis
  • Other meningitis vaccines
  • Rabies
  • Tuberculosis
  • Yellow fever

For more information and to find specialist travel clinics, please go to www.nhs.uk or www.nathnac.org

Information about countries and vaccinations required can be found on the links below:

Europe & Russia North America
Central America South America and antarctica
Carribean Africa
Middle East Central Asia
East Asia Australasia and Pacific

You will need to fill out a travel questionaire and it is important to complete this as early as possible – at least 8 weeks before you travel – as an appointment may be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
