Travel Vaccinations

Travel Vaccinations

If you are travelling abroad for work or a holiday, our Practice Nurses can provide travel health advice and administer a range of travel vaccinations.

They can advise you on:

  • the vaccinations recommended for your destination
  • how to reduce your risk of illness while travelling
  • any health risks specific to the country you are visiting.

Please note that not all travel vaccinations are available at the practice, and some vaccines are not provided free of charge on the NHS.

Vaccinations Available at the Practice

The following travel vaccinations are usually available free of charge on the NHS:

  • Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio (combined vaccine)
  • Hepatitis A
  • Meningitis ACWY (where clinically indicated)
  • Typhoid
  • Cholera

Vaccinations Not Available at the Practice

The following vaccines are not provided by the practice and will need to be obtained from a specialist travel clinic:

  • Hepatitis B
  • Japanese Encephalitis
  • Rabies
  • Tuberculosis (BCG)
  • Yellow Fever
  • Other specialist travel vaccines

Before You Travel

Please complete our Travel Questionnaire as early as possible, ideally at least 8 weeks before you travel.

This allows enough time for:

  • your travel risk assessment
  • any required appointments with the Practice Nurse
  • ordering vaccines that are not routinely held in stock
  • ensuring vaccinations are given at least 2 weeks before travel, allowing time for immunity to develop.

Please complete the Travel Questionnaire before booking your appointment.
