Practice Nurse Appointments

Our Practice Nurses, Andrea, Shireen and Susie, provide a wide range of clinics and healthcare services.

Appointments can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance.

Our Practice Nurses provide:

  • Chronic disease reviews (including asthma, diabetes and COPD)
  • Contraceptive reviews and advice
  • Childhood and adult vaccinations and immunisations
  • Cervical screening (smear tests)
  • Wound care and swabs
  • Health promotion and lifestyle advice

Andrea and Shireen are Independent Prescribing Nurses and are also able to assess and treat a range of minor illnesses, including sore throats, coughs and ear infections, where appropriate.

Chronic Disease Reviews

Diabetes Reviews

Patients with diabetes are invited for an annual review. Before your appointment, you may be asked to attend for a blood test so that your results are available to discuss during your review.

Appointments are also available for patients who need advice or support with diabetes between their annual reviews.

Asthma and COPD Reviews

Regular reviews help us monitor your condition, ensure your medication is working effectively and check your inhaler technique. Our nurses will also provide advice to help you manage your condition and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Childhood Immunisations

Routine childhood immunisation clinics are held on alternate Wednesdays at each surgery.

Appointments are arranged by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW)  If you miss your appointment, another invitation will usually be sent automatically.

You can find further information about childhood vaccinations on the NHS website and through the Oxford Vaccine Knowledge Project.

Pre-school Booster Vaccinations

Pre-school booster clinics are held on alternate Thursdays at each surgery for eligible children.

Cervical Screening (Smear Tests)

Women and people with a cervix who are eligible for NHS cervical screening will receive an invitation when their screening is due.

Our Practice Nurses provide cervical screening appointments. If you have been invited for screening, please contact the surgery to book an appointment.

Health Checks

We also offer NHS health checks and other preventative health reviews for eligible patients. Please contact the surgery if you would like to find out whether you are eligible.
