IMPORTANT CHANGES TO OUR SERVICES DUE TO COVID-19

DUE TO THE NEW GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES WE ARE CHANGING THE WAY YOU CAN ORDER YOUR PRESCRIPTION; THIS IS TO ENSURE YOU DO NOT HAVE TO MAKE AN UNNECESSARY TRIP TO THE SURGERY.

As from Tuesday 24th March 2020 we will take one prescription request from you over the phone, you must have the medication name, strength and directions of how you take it when passing the information to reception, BUT you must sign up for a method of electronic prescribing at this time, prescriptions can be ordered via online access, e-consult or email using our generic email address warccg.fearnheadcrossmc@nhs.net, you MUST select a chemist where you can collect your medication from.

Although our doors are closed we are not shut, if you need to attend the surgery for any reason, at Fearnhead please ring the doorbell and stand back behind the metal gate and a receptionist will deal with your query/request, at Longford Street we have an intercom, please ring the bell once and when answered speak clearly in to the intercom, please do not leave your finger continuously on the bell as we will not be able to speak to you.

If for any reason you need to enter the building, for example for an appointment, we will take your temperature at the door.

Please be patient with our staff who are working hard at this time to still give you the service that you need, but who like you, are scared and worried and have families they are trying to protect at home. VERBAL ABUSE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

The recent outbreak of Covid- 19 is placing new and increasing challenges on all our member practices and our primary concern is to ensure the safety of our patients and staff

For the very same reason this practice, in line with all those in the area, has decided to put measures into place as pre-emptive contingencies to reduce and minimise the risks with transmission.  This risk is for you as our patient but also for the staff who work here in the practice.

National guidance from NHS England has mandated that all online booking appointments are suspended across the country. The reason we have done this is that this mitigates any potential risk of infected patients booking an appointment online and attending the surgery.

Instead, all appointments will be triaged in the first instance. Telephone triage is a process that facilitates signposting and the giving of relevant clinical advice.   Face to face appointments will be booked when agreed during this triage/initial consultation with either a GP or Nurse. The facility to use online eConsult and requesting prescriptions online is still available to all patients.  If you cannot use eConsult please ring the practice and one of our patient advisors will complete the forms for you whilst you are on the phone.  Please note: If you already have a pre booked appointment this will be changed to a telephone appointment or rescheduled. Our patient advisers will be contacting patients to notify you of any changes.

We would like to reassure all our patients that we are continuing to work with NHS England, the CCG and Public Health to make sure that what we are doing is always in the best interest of our patients and our staff.

We are trying to prevent unnecessary visits to the surgery and would therefore suggest patients sign up for electronic prescribing. For more information or advice please call the surgery. If you require a repeat prescription we would request that where possible you request this using our online services, eConsult or by emailing the request to warccg.fearnheadcrossmc@nhs.net. If you do not have any access to the internet you can still bring your request to the surgery and use the postbox which is next to the front door at each building. For any further queries please speak to our prescription team on option 2.

The NHS and Public Health England (PHE) are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.

NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need medical help and advise you what to do.
